The Dachny Otvet team, in an empty space under the roof of a country house, organized an observatory for the spouses with starfall, an office and a dressing room.
The inspiration for the project was the head of the family’s passion for stargazing, so the idea for the observatory came naturally. The height of the room made it possible to use the space under the slopes; in addition, there was already a round window under the ridge, to which the builders organized an approach. So the bedroom got a second tier, which became possible to climb via a spiral staircase. And it is there that now there is a place for the owner’s telescope, which is accompanied by a home library.
The bedroom itself is located on the first floor. Next to the bed is now a comfortable multifunctional table, which can be used as a dressing table or a work table. There are spacious hanging shelves above it. The heating system was hidden in the console opposite the berth. As a material for furniture design designer Natalya Bazhenova chose Lamarty laminated chipboard in the decor "Walnut Naples" in embossing "Rustic"a walnut pattern, like the shelves in the library, and in white we assembled an auxiliary storage system in the bedroom area. Its depth is only 40 cm, but thanks to the many shelves there is definitely enough space for things.
A crucial stage: according to the idea of designer Natalia Bazhenova a second tier should have appeared in the room of our heroes - for the owner of the house and his telescope. The frame of the structure was assembled from timber, and then covered on top with durable, wear-resistant birch plywood SyPly BIRCH LOW of impressive thickness 21 mm.
The insulation was hidden with a hydro-vapor barrier film, after which the ceiling was sewn up with thin and flexible, but very durable birch plywood SyPly BIRCH MIDDLE 6 mm.
The highlight of the project was the vault of heaven made of perforated twelve-millimeter SyPly BIRCH TOP plywood, painted deep blue. On a CNC machine, according to the idea of the author of the project, star-shaped holes of various sizes were cut out, which were filled with light thanks to an LED strip installed between the plywood sheets. LEDs will last for more than 50,000 hours of operation and will not require replacement for many years. At the same time, if necessary, the plywood sheets can be removed, so replacing the tape will not be a big problem.
The cut-out star figures were also used to decorate the space as if they were stars that had just fallen from the sky.
The result is a truly interesting project filled with magical magic with a staircase to the starry sky.
